Support Groups

ADHD
The Family Tree sponsors a free ADHD Support Group on the third Wednesday of every month from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM hosted by Daniel Yeager, LCSW. No children, please. Call The Family Tree at (337) 981-2180 for the location.

Autism
The mission of the Autism Society of Acadiana is to support families of individuals with autism and to raise awareness about all aspects of living with, educating and caring for a person on the autism spectrum. To this end, it sponsors several area support groups. Down syndrome
The Down syndrome Support & Education Group meets on the first Tuesday of every even month from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Woman's Foundation (next to Woman's and Children's Hospital on Ambassador Caffery Pkwy.) Building A, Suite 100. For more information, contact the

Multiple Sclerosis
The Southwest Louisiana Multiple Sclerosis Foundation sponsors a Multiple Sclerosis Support Group that meets at 5:30 PM on the third Wednesday of each month at Hub City Diner at 1412 S. College in Lafayette. Jackie Cusimano is the group facilitator.

Muscular Dystrophy
The Muscular Dystrophy Association sponsors a Muscular Dystrophy Support Group on the fourth Thursday of each month from 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center's Education Hallway Room 108 in Lafayette. For more information, contact Mia Patout at (337) 269-1638.

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Support Groups
NAMI's FAMILY-TO-FAMILY Support Group is for family members who are coping as caretakers or seeking to be supportive of those in their family (14 years and older) who are living with a major brain disorder or mental illness. The group meets from 6:00 - 7:30 PM on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month at the First Lutheran Church in Lafayette. For more information, call Karen DuBois at

NAMI's CONNECTION Support Group is a place for people living with a brain disorder diagnosis who are seeking encouragement, support and information. The group meets from 6:00 - 7:30 PM on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month at the First Lutheran Church in Lafayette. For more information, call Denver Nobles at (337) 849-6764. 

Sibshop
Sibshop
is sponsored by Families Helping Families of Acadiana and is a support group for children who have a sibling with a developmental disability, cognitive disability and/or other special health needs. Participants have a chance to talk, play, and develop skills in a fun and supportive environment. Contact Amy Theobald at (337) 984-3458 for more information.
